Cubs top prospect Kris Bryant took the Southern League by storm during the first half of the season with a .355 average, 1.160 OPS, 22 homers, 20 doubles, 58 RBI and 61 runs in 68 games.
And his ridiculous run continued on Monday night.
Bryant mashed 16 homers, including four in the final round against Mobile BayBears first baseman Jonathan Griffin to capture the 2014 Southern League Home Run Derby title at Engel Stadium in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The Tennessee Smokies third baseman will start and bat third for the North Division team in Tuesday's Southern League All-Star Game at AT&T Field in Chattanooga. He will be joined by Smokies pitchers Hunter Cervenka, P.J. Francescon and Armando Rivero on the North squad.
